Quilts in the Snow

One day last week we woke up to a perfect snow day......a thick layer of crisp dry clean white snow lay over everything making it all look magical.........it made me want to grab my camera and a quilt or two and take some pictures......so i did :)............
..............we very rarely have much snow here, living on the coast we seem to miss it when other places have a lot...........so it was quite a novelty for the local children (including my bigger grandchildren, charlie and daisy)...and for me too............
...........while i was in the garden taking my snowy quilt pictures the children at the local school were allowed to go out and build snowmen and snow dogs before settling down to their lessons.......i was so happy to hear this when i collected charlie and daisy later in the afternoon, and think their teachers are very understanding.......the children will have special memories of their snowy school day.........
............it was a grey and white morning at first and later the sky became blue, and the sun came out and sparkled on the pure white snow..........
...........this is my shoofly quilt, one of the traditional red and white designs i am making for my own collection...........
........the fabrics are kona cottons in white and tomato..........the backing is a lovely bonnie and camille print that echoes the patchwork pattern..........
............snowy trees through the window.........every branch had its own coating of snow....
...........next i took some pictures of my blue and white checkerboard quilt too.............the tree i hung the quilts on is in the middle of the lawn and is an eleagnus which has a lovely perfume when in flower and attracts butterflies and bees..........charlie and daisy have always loved to climb in it too....
.............more quilt shots............below is the potting shed with its door open for the first time in a while......
..............i brought the old blue painted chair out of the potting shed for a quick picture too....
............it was an amazing day and very beautiful..........but for those who have had enough snow here are some flowers to remind us that spring will soon be here...........
.............we potted up these sweet primroses a couple of weeks ago when we thought winter was nearly gone ;)..............
.............thank you for visiting me here dear readers and for the lovely comments you take the time to leave....i always love to hear from you..........wishing you a happy week ahead and plenty of cosy crafty times..............back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

How perfect your quilts look against the snow. Snow is rare here in Cornwall but we did have three days last week when it was very much a white landscape.

Once again a lovely picture of your quilts!! We also only had a little snow which soon disappeared, but it was very cold. Love the red and white quilt it really shows up against the snow. Joan.

Your quilts are lovely and the photos even more beautiful with the pure white snow as a backdrop. Seems many places that don't normally get snow are getting the white stuff this year. 5 years ago when my eldest boy went to Colorado, the temperature was -20 F and very snowy and icy but this winter he's had no snow at all. I'm glad to hear the teachers let the kids enjoy the snow before they settled down for lessons.

I like the idea of letting the children play in the snow - it's a rarity there, and something to savour. I think that you had your own "play" with your quilts in the snow, such a lovely idea. Now, though, I'm hoping for more of the flowers that you've shown. Winter can leave and let Spring arrive!

Wow don't your quilts look stunning with that snowy back drop.
Let's hope we don't get anymore of the white stuff.

Your quilts look lovely in the snow....and what a lot of snow hit the UK! Glad your grandchildren were able to play in the snow, these childhood memories are so wonderful.
Your primroses are so sweet and a lovely reminder that Spring isn't too far away!

You've shown your pretty quilts off in the best possible setting. I adore fresh fallen snow ( and we have plenty of that tonight!).

Sending love across the miles, Helen!

Snow does brighten the landscape and your quilts look so sparkly and pretty against the backdrop of it. Love them both - and your lovely primroses!

Your beautiful 'snow quilts' look so crisp and fresh Helen. What a novelty its been to have snow. Now being on the coast we have had less than you, none that stayed, whilst family further south, snowbound, enjoying the slow time. Lovely to see the primroses. XXX

Your snow was gorgeous! What a perfect time to take your gorgeous quilts out for a fashion shoot! :-) Do you pick up your grandchildren from school each day? That is a great way for you to spend time with them and bond with them. I bet they are adorable and love their gorgeous and talented grandmother very much! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

What a great way to show off your quilts. I like the solids one. I think using solids might be next on my wish list. The dresden stars are going really well Jo x
